Baton Pass – Week of Nov 2
Research shows that parents are the single most influential factor in a child’s faith. 82% of kids whose parents talk about and practice faith at home go on to follow Jesus as adults, compared to 36% whose parents simply bring them to church. Alabaster Kids is one hour a week. You have the rest. We want to help you make the most of it.
Sunday’s Big Idea
Our mission is to follow Jesus as a family for Asheville. Following Jesus means becoming his apprentice: we are with him, we become like him, and we do what he did. When Jesus called his first disciples, they left their nets and followed him, and he still invites us today. (Toddlers through kindergarten heard the story of Jesus welcoming and blessing the little children, because he loves them and wants them to be with him!)
Memory Verse: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30, CSB)

Who do you look up to and want to be like? What is it about them you want to copy?
The disciples spent all their time with Jesus. What do you think they learned just by being with him?
What’s one thing Jesus did that we could do this week?
Practice & Pray
Spend a few minutes with Jesus together this week. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and picture Jesus with you, maybe walking together or sitting in a favorite spot. Imagine him placing his hand on your head to bless you, like he did with the children. Tell him anything you’d like, and notice what he says or does.
Then pray together: “Jesus, thank you for loving us and inviting us to follow you. Help us be with you, become like you, and do what you did this week.”
